YunTech Strengthens Higher Education Ties with Indonesia, Marking a New Milestone in International Partnership
Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech), led by President Chang Chuan-Yu and Alumni Association Chairman Su Chen-Yi, visited two prestigious Indonesian universities—Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII)—from October 1 to 2, 2025. The delegation engaged in in-depth discussions on the framework for future higher education collaboration, yielding fruitful outcomes.
UNNES, recognized for its development strategy as a “conservation-oriented university,” is distinguished in the areas of environmental, ecological, and cultural preservation. Its achievements in international sustainability rankings have earned global recognition. Over the years, UNNES has sent many Indonesian scholars and students to YunTech for master’s and doctoral studies; upon returning, they have continued teaching and research at UNNES. Both universities expressed their commitment to establishing a strategic partnership to deepen cooperation in education, research, and technology transfer.
UII, renowned for its dedication to academic freedom, diverse perspectives, and a balance between Islamic values and educational excellence, stands among the top institutions in Indonesia in terms of research performance. During the visit, the two universities explored extensive opportunities for collaboration, including faculty mobility, joint curriculum development, student exchange programs, joint publications, and integrated research platforms.
President Chang emphasized that Indonesia represents a key region for YunTech’s internationalization efforts. He noted that this visit not only strengthened academic linkages but also deepened mutual cultural understanding and trust. Moving forward, YunTech will continue to advance collaborations with Indonesian partners, particularly in faculty and student exchanges, cross-border curriculum design, joint research projects, and industry-academia partnerships, aiming for long-term, mutually beneficial outcomes.
Chairman Su highlighted the importance of leveraging alumni industry resources to facilitate collaboration projects. By enhancing research capacity and accelerating the translation of academic achievements into practical applications, YunTech aims to further raise its visibility within Southeast Asia’s higher education landscape.
